What You’ll Be Serving Up:

Lead and provide strategic legal counsel and support to facilitate critical marketing, advertising, and digital performance, including by negotiating contracts with key partners and by ensuring legal compliance with advertising and product development. The role serves as the point person for legal needs of KFC’s marketing, advertising and business partners.

Here’s How You’ll Spice Things Up:

  • General Contract Negotiation: Coordinate, manage, and lead end-to-end contracting process for partnerships, agencies and vendors utilized by marketing, advertising and digital teams:
    • Manage and negotiate Master Agreements, SOWs, SaaS, PaaS, and EULAs with current digital technology vendors and assist with onboarding of new vendors.
    • Manage and negotiate Master Agency Agreements, new SOWs, renewals and amendments with marketing and advertising agencies in partnership with franchisee coop.
    • Manage and negotiate co-promotional, licensing, and talent agreements for traditional and digital marketing partnerships.
    • Manage and negotiate performance marketing direct buys with digital partners including aggregators.
  • Marketing & Advertising Compliance: Responsible for establishing, communicating, and implementing advertising review processes and guardrails to business partners. 
    • Ensure onboarding and training of new agencies and business partners to drive value and balance risk management and mitigation.
    • Manage all sweepstakes, contests, giveaways, etc. to ensure brand protection and proper participant interaction appropriately escalating high risk issues to supervisor. Draft/review rules for sweepstakes, contests and giveaways.
    • Oversee legal reviews and clearance of advertisements, promotions, licensing, brand partnerships and system communications escalating trademark/IP application and clearances to Yum Trademark team as appropriate.
  • Work on special projects to improve integration between marketing and digital departments as requested.
  • Ensure ongoing alignment with internal teams through regular 1x1 meetings, email communications, training/coaching, and measuring and sharing results.
  • Other assignments and tasks as delegated by the Chief Legal Officer. 

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Education/Certifications – Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school 
  • Experience 
    • Years of Experience – 3+ years’ experience in large law firm or fast-paced corporate environment.
    • Strong background in marketing and advertising compliance, including: FTC rules, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, common law principles around deceptive advertising, and foundational understanding of trademark and IP protection.
    • Contracts, technology, data privacy experience and product design a plus, but not required
