Assoc. Mgr Packing Engineer

LOCATIONS: Plano

What You’ll Be Serving Up:

The Sr. Packaging Engineer will support the Brand Marketing Team in the development of packaging solutions supporting the national marketing calendar, innovation sessions and test markets.  In addition, this position will lead YUM sustainability and RMI initiatives for KFC US. Packaging design considerations will include operational viability, consumer appeal, product performance in package, environmental compliance and affordability.

Here’s How You’ll Spice Things Up:

  • Design and implement future back packaging vision to create a continuous innovation pipeline for brand marketing initiatives.
  • Seek out and identify areas of packaging needs to support YUM Sustainability Goals and implement actionable strategies to address
  • Lead packaging RMI initiatives, based on business needs
  • Make data based decisions to define packaging strategy and solution implementation
  • Manage the KFC Packaging QA program.  Resolve CAMM complaints, maintain specs in SMW, track/resolve supplier non-compliance.
  • Support environmental initiatives and compliance with YUM and municipal standards, in partnership with government affairs, public relations and Yum Engineering
  • Design and implement product testing procedures for new packages
  • Use disruptive thinking to challenge the status quo
  • Work in partnership with business functional areas, cross functional teams, outside vendors and franchise owners
  • Provide results oriented technical support to field operators with packaging issues in existing restaurants
  • Move initiatives forward using a defined project management process
  • Ability to travel 20%

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical) MS/MEng Preferred
  • 5-9 years career experience in Packaging/Engineering related field. Restaurant industry or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Understanding of retail/restaurant operations preferred
  • Track record of successfully managing vendor relationships
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated track record of creative problem solving
  • High level of accuracy and timeliness in completing assignments
  • Strong analytic skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle and resolve conflict effectively
  • Self-starter and able to adapt to fast paced fluid work environment
  • Highly organized with the ability to perform multiple tasks and handle changing priorities
  • Outstanding coaching and mentoring skills with solid follow-up.
